Nameless Pakistani Carinderia


There's this strange place along Angel Linao in Manila. It has no sign out front, no aircon, and no menu. You choose from the food items scribbled on a grungy piece of cardboard posted on the wall. Dine amongst the inebriated barangay tanods - beer costs around P25. The curry is pretty good and the chapatis are steaming hot. Kebabs come hand-rolled and unskewered.

After dinner, dessert comes in the form of videoke. Choose from English, Tagalog, and Bollywood hits and make sure you bring enough P5 coins to drop in the machine. If you're a pretty girl, bask in drunken and soulful serenade of one of tanods. The serenade really did happen, by the way.

    I may be pretty but I ain't no girl. That would be filet minion, who, believe it or not, sometimes acts like a girl. She was serenaded by a drunk tanod who apologized to me thinking I would get offended.

    Have you been to Sango lately? They're giving guys heart shaped origami rings to give their dates.

    My last visit to Sango was two weeks ago. But I just found out last night that they deliver as far as Cyrano.

    So who date brought you to Sango? Or who date did you bring to Sango! Or "it wasn't a date" and "we're just friends" hihihi

    Bogchief, we live near Sango and called for delivery and it was the chief Japanese guy who delivered our burgers!

    Okay, my comments have nothing whatsoever to do with this post, but I haven't visited your blog in months, so I've just read the whole page and will react to it all here. So there! ;-)

    Karabau, how could you see me every day and not tell me about the FREE BEER in Yakiniku?!?! I live walking distance from there! Too bad Mondays come after Sundays. Then again, that's what Sick Leaves are for! ;-)

    So...Karabau...dating again, huh? Anyone I know? ;-)

    I'd forgotten all about Sango delivering. We live near it too; have to remember that, next time. Could someone post the number, please? Thanks! :-)

    Alas, elisabet, there are no landmarks. The only reason we have an idea of the location is because the place used to have a sign. But if you live in that area, I suggest you try Shawarma Snack Center instead or one of the other halal restaurants along Mabini. And be sure to let us know if you find anything interesting.
